Assessment for Learning and the impact of technology

Welcome : Assessment Tomorrow Edinburgh 2009

Thi conference, the fourth Assessment Tomorrow conference in Scotland, took Assessment for Learning as its focus and looks at how the technology, tools and techniques of e-Assessment and Computer Based Testing can support the Formative Assessment Process and help develop the Assessment for Learning process.

Learners achieve most when

  • they understand clearly what they are trying to learn, and what is expected of them
  • they are given feedback about the quality of their work and what they can do to make it better
  • they are given advice about how to go about making improvements
  • they are fully involved in deciding what needs to be done next, and who can give them help if they need it

Technology is ideally suited to supporting the ambitions of these programmes and making formative assessment and the personal learning agenda viable.

However, technology offers both benefits and challenges for those using, or considering using, ICT to address these ideas. e-Assessment offers exciting and innovative approaches to otherwise costly or inflexible assessment of learners, students or employees.

To take best advantage of those benefits and to learn from the challenges - this conference presented a full one day programme of practitioners and experts sharing their ideas, experience and knowledge.

A full of delegates enjoyed a rewarding and thoroughly interesting day - click here to see the programme
